An exciting new venture in systems medicine.

The practitioners behind GBS have treated patients for gut-related problems, that present as a range of different conditions, for many years. Much of the understanding of how this wellness program is applied comes from a great number of case studies stretching back decades.
It is the first time this approach has been delivered as a cohesive offering and, as such, the complete wellness options are still in development and should be available by April or May 2026. They are not medical treatments – these wellness programs are best conducted with the oversight of your General Practitioner, Physician or Health Professional. We do currently accept applications for treatment on a case-by-case basis (not Medicare funded) and are developing an automated online wellness offering (to be launched on this web site) that can make the program available to a wider community of participants. Of course, during this development, it is of the utmost importance that Gut Brain Science adheres to all regulatory guidelines.
The 'gut-first' approach that we are following has long been championed by pioneers such as Dr Daniel Hausman, who advocates a ‘look under the hood’ methodology.
At Gut Brain Science, our wellness programs take a personalised 'look under the hood' approach – because most conditions are syndromal, complex and deeply interconnected. It is important for your participating health professionals to understand that traditional methods are based only on symptom sets and not on associated pathophysiological biomarker factors — those transdiagnostic factors that can unlock the secrets hidden within the patient’s system. Intervening at an ‘under the hood’ level achieves typically better results than a ‘treating the symptoms only’ approach. And usually with across-the-board benefits.

"The process, and the outcome, can be likened to the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly."
Gut Brain Science delivers a simple, self-managed Gut Guide, and a two-tiered Gut Body & Mind Reset, with Gut Wellness One soon to be available to all — a highly personalised program, with participation required of the patient’s General Practitioner or Physician, as it involves blood, stool, and other tests and observations, at regular intervals. Gut Wellness Two, an even more specialised, AI-assisted version, is in development.
The potential benefits include addressing weight gain, bloating, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, anxiety, depression, sleep problems, chronic fatigue, cardiovascular symptoms, brain fog, attentional and memory problems and more. Uniquely, to date, the program is based on combining clinical practice with the science of microbiota. Not the all-famous microbiome — a word that describes the collection of all microorganisms, bacteria, fungi and viruses in the gut, along with their genetic characteristics — but the individual species of bacterium that colonise the gut in greater, or smaller, numbers and how their relative populations and by-products affect the host, you!

When our microbiota are balanced, our system keeps our body healthy, promotes good digestion, clear thinking, balanced mood and a healthy immune system — resulting in glowing overall health and wellbeing.
The gut microbiota-gut-brain axis is involved in the body’s essential self-regulation processes — homeostasis and allostasis. These are the brain-body systems processes that enable us to cope with the demands of life, including stress. In contrast to the brain-centric view, gut bugs are part of the ‘collective intelligence’ of the overall brain-body system and contribute to what is called prior learning, or memory, which shape our ‘predictive models’, enabling us to make sense of our world, feel and respond to our experiences and, with new learning, modify these expectations as required.
Imbalanced gut microbiota can affect these modifications which, in turn, are associated with a wide range of symptoms and illnesses. Going beyond the symptoms to also identify and treat these underlying processes allows greater precision, personalisation and better health outcomes. The process of treatment also provides an opportunity to ‘process’ life experiences and re-evaluate our sense of self.

The cases deal with participants from birth to older age, and a range of conditions from anxiety and colitis to depression and a congenital diarrhoea disorder.
